This page describes how SOS Roadside collects consent to send text messages, and publishes the exact script our dispatch agents read to every customer. It exists so that our messaging program can be reviewed and verified by mobile carriers.
1. How We Collect Consent
SOS Roadside collects consent to send text messages verbally, over the phone. A customer calls our dispatch line at (855) 706-7800 to request roadside assistance. After taking the details of the breakdown, the agent confirms the customer's mobile number and reads the consent script below. The customer confirms verbally before any message is sent.
Every call is recorded, and the customer's consent is logged against the job ticket with a timestamp and the identity of the agent who recorded it.
Verbal consent on the service call is the only way customers opt in to our text messages. We do not collect SMS consent through a web form, a paper form, a QR code, or a text-in keyword, and we do not obtain phone numbers from purchased lists or from any third party.
2. The Consent Script Our Agents Read
"Is [customer's number] the best mobile number for you? You'll get texts from SOS Roadside about this job, including messages with the driver we send out, so you can reach each other. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP any time to stop and HELP for help. Is that okay?"
If the customer declines, no text messages are sent and the job proceeds by phone. Consent to receive text messages is optional and is never a condition of receiving roadside assistance.
3. What We Send
Messages are operational only. They relate to the specific job the customer called about, and include:
- Confirmation that a service provider has been dispatched
- Arrival times and status updates
- Messages relayed between the customer and the service provider assigned to that job, so the two can coordinate directly
- Job completion notices and receipts
To protect the privacy of both parties, these messages are relayed through a temporary number rather than the customer's or the driver's personal number. The temporary number is tied to one job and is released once that job closes.
We do not send marketing or promotional text messages, and we do not send messages on behalf of affiliates or any other company.
4. Required Disclosures
Message frequency varies based on your service activity.
Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Stopping messages does not affect your ability to receive roadside assistance.
Reply HELP for help, or call (855) 706-7800.
No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for promotional or marketing purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
